The most important part of this picture is that it records that my intramural softball team, the chemistry department Isotopes won the USC dork league IM championship the previous year, with the fewest number of forfeits.
We were married in Malibu, the site of some pretty bad fires last year. As far as I know the site survived. We were underwelmed by the wedding locations in LA we could afford when we drove out to Malibu. Although more reasonably priced it was at least a 40 minute drive from our home. When we arrived the first thing we said was, "too far." After touring the location we had decided that despite the difference, this was where we were going to get married.
I found these pictures at my parents house. Although my hair was never as light as Ezra's, mine was fairly curly as a child.* I was probably 15-18 months in these pictures, but I probably weighed as much as Ezra does today. Unfortunately, if he has my hair, this is where he is heading.
* Ezra definitely gets his eyes from his mother's side!
See where Ezra gets those curls? The little guy in the middle is Ezra's great grandpa Eddie. This picture was taken in 1915 so Eddie was somewhere between six and eighteen months old. The boys on the left and right are my great uncles Harry and Milt, respectively. I got this picture from my Dad via my cousin and the Oregon Jewish Museum.
Several years ago I acquired a partial collection of these 1920 and 1930 census forms for Shanna and my families. I suppose this may be interesting to some of our readers, rather than hiding on my hard drive.

This film was originally shot on 16 mm by the local CBS station on October 11, 1976 for a story on baby food. I was about 5 months old. Since I was born about two months early I'm about at the same developmental age as Ezra is today. My parents did not have a 16 mm projector so it has sat in storage unseen for over 3o years. In the family lore this was a 30 minute sound reel, but when I had it transfered to DVD I ended up with a 4 minute silent film. Apparently the film was not what we thought it was. Either that or the film transfer company I used did not do a very good job. No wonder they were so cheap.
This week is my Grandpa Eddie's yahrtzeit. He was a very influential man in my life and I miss him a lot. I thought it would be a good time to post this video clip I recently found from his 80th birthday party. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it was filmed in 1996. Update: It was filmed in August 1994.
The BBYO regional conventions (especially the winter one) were the highlights of my high school years. In this video we are "singing" the AZA song Up You Men. I always ended up hoarse at the end of a convention. This video was taken at the song competition from the 1993 winter convention, my senior year. My friend Ben (the one speaking) planned this one. Each chapter would come up with two songs on fast (a cheer) and one slow (a brotherhood song). Generally speaking we changed the words to existing songs so they had something to do with AZA. I actually had a knack for this, my friend Josh and I made a few good ones. If you're really interested I posted the rest of the video here and here. Unfortunately the rest of the songs are lost to eternity. I found this nugget with my parents old video camera. The tape is pretty degraded but you get the general idea.
