Ahh, young scientists in love. Here our protagonists, Aaron and Shanna, fresh out of grad school are ready to take on the world with nothing but a rented academic hood and 6 crates full of arcane chemical knowledge. I've already been working for a year in industry and Shanna, interested in an academic career lined up a postdoc position she's excited about at a relatively nearby institution. We're fortunate to live in an area with employment opportunities for both of us. Her commute will be 24 miles, mine a comfortable 8. Although both of our backgrounds are in chemistry we took different paths in grad school. My graduate work is in physical chemistry while Shanna's is in inorganic chemistry.
