Neither Shanna nor I have ever been in a hospital overnight before. Overall we've been happy with our medical care both with the labor and birth and postpartum. However, one aspect of multi-day medical care that I didn't think about prior to experiencing it is that your caregivers change every 8 to 12 hours. On one hand if you don't like your nurse during the day you probably will have another one overnight. On the other, if you do like your nurse during the day, there's a chance your night nurse will stop by every hour to tell you your baby is at a high risk to spontaneously combust. Not that I'm speaking from experience.

We're still at the hospital. Shanna and Ezra are doing fine, if a little worn out. Nobody got much sleep last night. We were worried that Ezra was losing too much weight, but the doctor said not to worry about it since he has plenty to lose. Shanna's still going to get the "large birth weight baby" mama merit badge, as soon as it comes out.

I have a coworker who says that she knows they have screwed up raising their children if they grow up to be nurses. But that aside, he definitely has your ears! And Lila is extrodinarily jealous of all Ezra's fabulous hair!
