We finally moved over the LDR(maybeP) room! After getting here at 8 am this morning and being and constant monitoring in an observation room, we were definitely ready for the transition to our brand new room. It is very crowded here - something about December makes people think about making babies I guess. On top of the busyness, all the nurses are still getting used to the new layout. The room is very large and Aaron now has several comfortable seating options. We have a great view of the 10 freeway (which is better at night, we've been told - actually in the bed I can't see it). In fact, the view is very nice. Also I have a great view of the storm rolling in. StormWatch 2007. Live from Labor and Delivery.
The previous posts were all called in by Aaron by phone- the transcription is a little quirky - we were never in the operating room. But you can also listen to them. Right now, they gave me a drug to soften my cervix so we haven't even been induced yet. The game plan is so see what this does over the next four hours. I could go into labor just with this drug or if not, I'll be induced with pictocin. The awful part is that I'm stuck in bed for the next 4 hours. And I can't even get up to use the restroom for the first 2 hours. After that it looks like I'll be hanging pretty close to monitors so I won't be too mobile.
As some of you know, I've never handled the fast of Yom Kippur very well. Aaron always called me a wimp. I'd like to point out that this year, I'll be fasting, while Aaron will be eating (by my orders to keep his strength - only one of us can be grumpy by low sugar during this).
Aaron is trying to figure out the TV/DVD player - a good task for him - it looks like either we are the first patients to use it or the previous guys swiped the batteries from the remote.
We appreciated everyones comments so far. We'll keep the posts coming as best we can.
